Opportunities

The lab will consider talented, highly motivated UC San Diego graduate students and post-doctoral fellows holding a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD degree. Competitive candidates should be interested in the role of chondroitin/dermatan sulfate in endothelial biology, structure-function studies of syndecan-1 as related to lipoprotein metabolism, lysosomal storage disease, and biochemical/genetic studies of rare modifications of heparan sulfate.

Postdoctoral candidates should have experience in any of these fields, as well as experience working with cultured cells, mice, biochemical methods, and molecular biology. Lab members have the opportunity to take didactic courses related to glycobiology, obtain hands-on experience with analytical techniques, and experience both clinical and biotechnological application of glycobiology.
